Client to Agent Linking Steps

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has introduced a new security measure requiring entities other than sole traders/individuals to appoint a tax agent on their behalf. This new procedure aims to reduce identity theft.

This new procedure apply to the following entities:

  • Partnership
  • Company
  • Trust
  • SMSF

Steps by Steps guidance

Step 1. Have a strong myGovID identity strength

Details of how to set up a myGovID can be found from here,

Add identification to strength myGovID as necessary.

 

Skip this step if your myGovID has a strong identity strength.

Step 2. Link your myGovID to your ABN

This step outlines the procedures for linking your myGovID to your SMSF.

Head to the Relationship Authorisation Manager ATO via the link below:

https://authorisationmanager.gov.au/#/login

Once logged in, click into the second option View or manage authorisations, machine credentials and cloud software notifications’

If you find your SMSF details on the list, then proceed to Step #3 below.

If your SMSF is not on the list, please click on the first option Link your business

Enter your details accordingly. The eligible entity should now be appeared in the list from second option.

 

Step 3. Link your myGovID to your ABN

Go to Business portal to authorise us to be your tax agent.

OR to find the actual link from ATO website, 

Head to ato.gov.au, then click on Login option from top right hand corner, then select business portal

Go to Profile> Agent Details> Add> Enter 26214880

Our registered name with ATO is Arch Partners

Tick the Box > Submit

Please notify us that you have authorised us to add your entity/SMSF as a client.

We will then be able to add your entity/SMSF to our client list.
